Students
already
holding
teaching
certificates
in areas
other than
French may
apply to the
University
to take
coursework
leading to
certification
in French,
namely
Second
Teaching
Field
Certification
in French.
Students
seeking
second
teaching
field
certification
are not
eligible for
the
Master of
Arts in
Teaching
(M.A.T.)
program.
However,
other
education-related
Master's
programs are
available,
such as our
regular
MA program
in French,
which can be
combined
with our
certification
program, or
other MA
programs as
described by
the
Graduate
School.
Second
Teaching
Field
Certification
in French
at
Montclair
State
University
is open to
students
who
wish to
teach French
in K-12
schools in
New Jersey.
Students
seeking
Second
Teaching
Field
Certification
in French
must be
admitted to
the Teacher
Education
Program and
follow the
sequence
below.
It is
expected
that
candidates
for Teacher
Certification
in French
demonstrate
proficiency
in written
and spoken
French.
Their
academic
backgrounds
should
include
courses in
language
(grammar,
phonetics,
etc) and
culture
(literature
and
civilization).
If they have
not already
taken the
equivalent
of 30
credits in
French, at
least twelve
of which are
at the
300-level or
higher,
these
courses
should be
taken at
Montclair
State
University
as part of
their
academic
program. The
