The Traditional M.A.
M.A. in Social Science with a Concentration in Anthropology


The traditional M.A. degree requires 32 credits. Of these, 12 to 15 must be in anthropology.

4. Undergraduate 400-level courses

Nearly all graduate courses are given at night. Most undergraduate courses are given in the day. Students able to take day classes can speed up their graduation by counting up to two undergraduate anthropology classes with 400 or higher numbers. 5. The Comprehensive M. A. Examination

The comprehensive examination is usually given in the student's last semester. It is given in October and March. Students taking the exam in March enroll in the ANTH 603 Reading Seminar during the previous fall semester. Those taking the exam in October do ANTH 603 during the previous spring semester. The exam is 3 hours and consists entirely of essay questions. For further information, contact the Graduate Advisor ( franker@mail.montclair.edu ) for the traditional M. A. program.
