Research Interests
Dr Vedwan’s fields of specialty are: cultural ecology, climatic change and society, peoples and cultures of South Asia, and development anthropology. He has conducted extensive research in the Indian Himalayas on the modernization of agriculture and responses to climatic change and the role of non-governmental organizations in agricultural policy making. During 2002-2003, Dr Vedwan was a post doctoral associate at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, University of Miami, studying policy and socio-political drivers of innovation in water resources management in South Florida. He has also examined socio-economic and other constraints to the use of climate information in agricultural decision-making in Florida. His current research focuses on the linkages between globalization, consumerism and environmentalism in India.
