Professional Interests

Dr. Siegel is an archaeologist with interests in the evolution of complex society and chiefdoms, lithic analysis, spatial analysis, quantitative methods, ethnoarchaeology, historical ecology, and heritage and cultural resource management. His primary areas of archaeological and ethnographic field work are in the Caribbean, lowland South America, and eastern North America.

 

Research Funding

Dr. Siegel has received funding for his research from the National Science Foundation, the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, and the John Heinz III Charitable Fund of the Heinz Family Foundation for Latin American Archaeological Field Research.
