>Brian: have you actually used InfoFerret? if so, how does it work? Does it live up to the promise?
I toyed with it a bit when I first installed it... It works in a similiar manner to web ferret except it requests information from a different set of search engines (which you can select from an options menu). I forget who was on the list of engines to select from, although I recall Amazon and CNN among perhaps 15 or 20 others.
I am not sure exactly how the program works... I imagine it sends a request to different information servers but only requests the basic text to the pages and then sorts the information into a list which is not unlike the list in Windows Find program or in Web Ferret.
BTW, all Ferret programs are slightly more useful when you realize you can get a discription of the suggested link by holding your mouse pointer over the entry's name. A "tool tip" type display pops up and gives you the information that would otherwise be displayed by Yahoo, Altavista, etc.
It's only 800K and it works fast... If it searchs any of the bases you might be interested in searching, I'd suggest installing it.
