I have to agree. If the church teaches us to be humble, and non excessive, then how can the church justify its gluttonous practices when in comes to wealth? The church is so caught up in it's political struggle, that sometimes it forgets where it really belongs. There was a case a few weeks ago when a woman in Texas was to be excuted. She claimed she had found God while on death row. The Pope, made a plea to the Texas governor to let her live. Now how, and why did the Church make this request. It was a political manner, and the gov. did the right thing by upholding the court's ruling. This was a matter for the courts, and the Pope tried to use his power to alter that decision. Now this may not be the greatest example of church/political interaction, but it was one that came to mind, and i think it holds a little bearing to the notion of church/political power struggle
