I agree. The upper class has exploited the lower class for centuries. Profit is the name of the game, and the rich can and do expoit the peasants for personal financial gain. But Piers is somewhat blind to this. He dosen't get the feeling of exploitation from the aristocracy, but instead he is upset by the fact that the peasants refuse to work. He feels work is a moral responsibility, and the responibility of the peasants. For those peasants who don't live their lives on the back of a plough, Piers resents.
