The issue of ecclesiastical poverty concerning the issue of the church
is a very important one when taken from a broad context. The church plays a
very important role in Eco's book and the underlying precept's of this are
clearly understood from a very broad perspective. I think that understanding
Eco's interpretation of this incident is very important to the whole overall
principle involved in the making of the theme that church poverty revolves
around.
Eco represents the role of church poverty in a way which sweeps over
the whole scope of the story. The issue of church poverty sweeps over the
grasp of the story which leads to further criticism about the understanding of
how the later developments will unfold. I think that Eco feels that the whole
issue of the church being poor is a farce because the church lends so much to
the development of the whole story. I can relate to the representation as so
far as it goes in regards to the fraud of the church and the greedy nature
involved in the papal regions.
