I felt as though the whole idea of poverty is so dangerous in this text because of the power that is linked to money. There are true believers in the poverty of Christ, however it is hard to remain so when to have any influence in society you must have a vice to be heard. You must have some sort of power and money was it. It was to be seen in order to be heard. And it is also hard to maintian this way of life when others around you do not. It's like when you don't have a car. You've never had a car. You walked everywhere and took the bus, but then you get a car and drive for a couple of years. Then it breaks down. Suddenly you are no longer able to function wihtout a car as you once did. THis is a very modern example, but the basis for comparison is clear. It also goes back to the idea of good and bad fortune. The good makes you weak and the bad makes you strong. The pope and other members of the anti-poverty movement, did so simply because it was easier and more beneficial to them. However, the good fortune made them incapable of dealing with any sort of bad fortune.
