It's true. And even with the death of Gui and everything he represents, the issue of class still remains unsettled. I like to think the movie, even as a murder mystery, addresses many of the issues in the novel, and in class, in a very different but completely valid manner. Like, the labyrinth, it's all a matter of interpretation!
