I agree. I noticed that the issue of poverty was shown in the film. The medium of film has made it so that lengthy dialog is not necessary. The use of images rather than text makes it visual and apparent. I also agree that the reason that this film was modified was so that it could be marketed to the public. If this film followed the book exactly it would not have most likely made it past the drawing board. THe whole idea of awareness and learning has to be subltle. People want to be entertained not enlightened.
