I must agree that the film's ending sequences do not do justice to the book. It is rather odd coming from the book, which follows the typical mystery-novel formula, where in the end the evil antagonist explains to the hero all about the deeds he has committed in the previous several hundred pages. Jorge doesn't even seem winded from all the running and talking he does at the end of the film, especially for a man his age. And everything happens very quickly, with the library burning down amidst all the chaos outside. The film does get across all the major points that it must, but it seems to present the viewer the bare minimum.
