While watching the movie some scenes which stood out the most were, when William and Adso are investigating the crime and the abbey throws garbage down the hill and all the peasant are there fighting over the garbage. You really you don't get to see the importance of the scene when you reading the book. When watching this scene you realize how the whole aspect of church vs. poverty. Another scene, which stood out, was when Adso and William enter the library for he first time. When you first see the library you realize how grand it really is. You get to see how it is laid out in the movies then you can actually picture the some of the scenes, which took place in that library.
