One thing I noticed different in th film The Name of the Rose was the symbolism of the words over the passages which led to the different rooms in the labyrinth. In the movie this issue was only focused on the one passage that led to the final secret room. Also to find their way around the labyrinth they used string in the movie. The book, of course always much more involved, tended to pay more attention to the meanings of the words over all the passages, incorporate them as a map, and showed the labyrinth in a much different manner. The book seemed to show the labyrinth as it compared to life, where th movie just showed it as a complex way to hide things.
