Money and pwer seem to be the root of all evil in many medieval themes. Merchants and nobles, while not all, seem to be corrupt. Especially of all you have mentioned the clergymen who are the worst of all. All of the works we have studied rvolve around the meaning of God and His teachings. I find it sopmewhat funny that the people represented in these novels that are supposed to be the Lord's srvants are the most horrible of all. they are all coniving, selfish, chauvinistic hippocrates. These same individuals, as well as many others, are also caught up in the whole materialistic realm of things. The more money, power, or land they have the more they believe they are better off. It doesn't matter to anyone either how they obtain it. It's amazing, and I believe this, thta this is truly the way things were(and are?). The one redeeming factor in all of this mess is the message of love. It is the hardest of all possessions to obtain but also the the most rewarding (leading one down the path of righteousness).
