It's worse still that the exploitation of the worker/non-elite still exists today. I see it especially in politics--I mean its ridiculous, you need $$$ to be able to run for president and $$$$ to even be involved in politics as we know it. We do not live in a democracy. I just don't understand how any 'necessary' suspention of basic rights like freedom of speech can be tolerated like the sedition acts in LUS. Freedom of speech is most needed during times of war---especially an imperliast war like World War I. I was surprised that LUS didn't go too much into detail about the anti-german propaganda. Stuff like this still exists. Propaganda is everywhere whether we recognize it as such or not. It is so intergrated with our everyday life that it becomes 'information.' The root of this is lack of questioning, and taking too many things at face value. Did the average person recognnize propaganda during their lifetime, or does the acknowledgement come afterwards?
