In today's society it is a battle in and of iteself to recognize "propaganda" because it is ubiquitous. Almost everything one sees on the television, in newspapers, magazines and on the radio serves as propaganda. If it is not flat out propaganda, it is worse - ridiculous pop-culture that serves to occupy the tired and fried brains of those who have put in 8 hours at the office, those who have no time or energy to question the "information" they are presented with on the 11:00 news, or on the front page of the newspaper. The only thing these people have the capacity to do, at this point, is to turn on Entertainment Tonight and kick back with a drink in order to distract them from the thought that tomorrow they will be woken up at 6:00 a.m. only to trudge to work for some huge corporation, facory, company that could care less about its employees. Americans are kept "dumb" by the system. Pop-culture has become the opiate of today's masses and as long as the people are kept opiated and tired, they will not be aware of the influx of propaganda that shapes their everyday lives.
