There is not excuse for senseless killing. No matter who you are or where you are from. When looking at the tragedies of war one must not be biased when considering the atrocities taking place. There must not be a face on the killer because then it will become acceptable because they were "our boys" who was doing the slaughtering. Put yourself in the shoes of those Vietnamese children who follow the troops and accept candy from them. Them picture seenig your father shot in the fields, your mother and sister raped and then murdered, and your house burned down. If it was okay for the U.S. troops to live by the saying "kill or be killed" why isn't it okay for the Vietnamese who are just lost in the crossfire of a war they have no control over. There is no excuse for the actions taken by the American soldiers, some chose not to take part in the slaughters while others used it as an opportunity to take out their frustrations for being stuck in the hellish war called Vietnam.
