I agree that morality has a lot to do with what is being shown to us here. If we had this system with a few lines of ethics and morals instead of dollar signs, we'd probably think twice about the next profit and what it really meant. This discussion could go into the whole subject of religion, but I will not go there. Instead I will say that we as Americans always have a cause and we as a whole know what is right and what is wrong. Maybe to some people money is everything and they will not settle for anything less than the biggest house on the block, the nicest car cruising down the street and the most money to spend, and sadly this is the truth for many people. Obviously this is because material possessions have so deeply been integrated into the fabric of what makes an American. I will not say that I am not in ways materialistic, but I certainly do not think that the ultimate in life is having a lot of money. I like to think that I want the simple things like good health and peacefulness in myself. Simply looking at the world around me I can't say I could be totally happy. This is the outcome we have given ourselves through making money and not the simple things more important than even human life, including ourselves because everybody knows that what goes around eventually DOES come around.
