To agree with Mr. Randolf’s concept on the issue of morality keeping Imperialism in check is nothing more than methodical. But for one to wholeheartedly accept this hypothesis as the truth one must consider certain aspects of doubt which arise as a result of questioning the actual possibility of such a concept being put into practice. Mr. Randolph writes that, “The blueprints of capitalism will only work towards a just society if those who use them exercise within the framework of morality.” Which brings up the question; what is morality? Morals as a whole are fabricated by a group of rulers who preach to the masses and use the media as a tool to instill their ideologies into the status quo. In this country those rulers are primarily of the Judeo-Christian background and all seem to preach similar arguments. To say that they help politicians use Imperialism for material gains would be an understatement. (Just look at the Gulf Crises many of these speakers labeled the conflict a ‘Holy War’) Although they don’t completely agree with everything the government does they, at the same time, don’t bring to the peoples attentions anything that the government does not want them to make public. In concealing the atrocities that the government is responsible for they, figuratively speaking, condone the government unjustifiable actions. Furthermore by condoning the actions of politicians’ it is safe to say that these speakers do not create the morals but the government itself creates the morals.
Additionally, it is logical to add that once confronted with an opportunity to increase their wealth most capitalist forget any morals that they had in the first place. “Thus, the wretched monsters of child-labor, unemployment among peasants, and the total disregard for the land of Third world countries rear their heads.” The only scenario in which the ‘wretched monsters’ (i.e. capitalist) will halt their attempts to exploiting would be in a society better known as Utopia. Not to ridicule Mr. Randolph’s statement, but it is am inherit human trait called greed which leads all capitalist to venture to begin there imperialist projects.
