Everyone has benefited in some way or another in this country from our capitalistic system. I strongly agree with this argument that Mr. Baxter has presented. I feel that if was not for capitalism, our country would not be as wealthy as it is today. We would be like a Third World country or a collapsed Soviet Union.

In regards to what Mr. Baxter said about the rich, I find that I have to contest his point a bit. Even though only .5 percent of our population has all the money (a statement made in our reading that I would like to find documentation for), if they have worked hard and have got their money honestly, I do not see any reason why they should not be allowed to keep it. To begin to take steps towards taking it from them is pure socialism. Where no matter how lazy you are, you have just as much money as your neighbor who works his butt off. Lets face it, some people are more ambitious and hard working then others are. Unless there is some type of repressive system in place, the hard working people will generally always be better off than those who are lazy. There is nothing wrong with this, and it is the way it should be. As long as I or anyone else is working hard and acting honestly and morally, there is no reason why I or any other person should not be rewarded for our actions.
