It seemed odd at first to think of someone who had fought in a war being against if but after hearing Mr. Chitty's discussion and from learning so much in class, I can understand why he is against what happened in Vietnam. There were two things that were particularly interesting to me. The first was how soon he joing Vietnam Vets Against the War after his discharge from the service and the second was the fact that people are tired of hearing about the War. I cannot answer why he joined so fast but I would gather that he was enlightened by his experiences and fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to understand the atrocity that was taking place. As far as people that are tired of hearing about the war, I chalk that up to plain ignorance. So many people lost their lives or loved ones to a war that never should have been fought in the first place and yet so many people are still ignorant to the truth about the war.
The last thing I would like to say was that I really admire Mr. Chitty for going back to VN for a second tour. He really cared for the men that he trained to risk his life for them.
