In Ben Chitty's speech he mentioned the American government's blatant denial of the affects of Agent Orange. More than that, the American government's denial of their destructive, manipulative role in Vietnam. Ben Chitty looks at the government from a questioning perspective. This is what I have also learned to recognize, that our government often functions from selfish, money hungry positions. Not that we should all equate America's government equals evil. Yet search to find the why, where, and how of what is going on in our world.

Recently I was involved in a conversation with a friend who served in the Gulf War in the army. During his period in Saudi the Army administered a series of three shots that were considered experimental, without being told the real reasons behind these drugs. They were forced to sign of form of confidentiality that they could never tell of this shot in or after their term in the army. On other occasions he remembers other men who were given series of different shots and pills, some that he is still in contact with have become severely ill. Ben Chitty said the American government denied the effects that Agent Orange had on the Vietnamese and the soldiers in Vietnam, and how they would probably deny the same with the Gulf War syndrome. This is why Ben Chitty is still actively involved in the Vietnam Vets cause to inform the public of what really went on in Vietnam. Because it is still happening today. It is not over.
