FOR ECONOMICS MAJORS

Liberal Arts Major in Economics

 

Must include a minimum of 6 s.h. from among these courses or equivalents: 

     Economics of Social Problems

     Comparative Economic Systems

     World Resources and Industries

     Public Finance

     Economic History of the United States

Must include a minimum of 3 s.h. from among these courses or equivalents:

     Intermediate Macroeconomics

     Money and Banking

Course Work in Related Social Sciences*

 

History (15 s.h.)

     Two courses in U.S. history

     One course in European history

     One course in non-western history

     One course in history of women

     Note:  For M.A.T. candidates, one History course must be at the 500 level.

Anthropology or Sociology (3 s.h.)

     ANTH 110 Anthropology of Multicultural America or equivalent OR

     SOCI 202  Racial and Ethnic Relations or equivalent

Geography (6 s.h.)

     Any one 100 level course

     One course in cultural, world, regional or local geography

Political Science (6 s.h.)

     One course on comparative or international politics

     One course in American political thought or American political systems

Religion (3 s.h.)

     One course in religions of the world

 

*NOTE:  History and Social Science courses completed with grades of C or higher prior to entering this program will be accepted.  The number of credits in each area will be correspondingly reduced; remaining courses will be determined after evaluation of student’s academic record.

Professional education courses to be determined by Academic Advisor in Center of Pedagogy.  Includes SOSC 401 – Methods of Teaching Social Studies.  Do not take until semester immediately prior to Student Teaching, concurrently with CURR 500 – Fieldwork in Education.
