FOR HISTORY MAJORS

Liberal Arts Major in History

 

Must include: 

     Four courses in U.S. history

     Two courses in European history, before and since 15th century

     Two courses in non-western history

     One course in women’s history

     One course in the history of Black Americans

     Two other elective courses at 300 level or above (both must be at 500 level for

     M.A.T. candidates)

Course Work in Related Social Sciences*

 

Anthropology (3 s.h.)

     Elective in cultural anthropology

Economics (6 s.h.)

     One 100 level course in Economics; ECON 100 recommended but not required

     ECON 215  Economics of Social Problems

Geography (two of the following – 6 s.h.)

     EUGS 100  Principles of Geography

     One elective course in cultural, local, regional or world geography

Political Science (6 s.h.)

     One course on comparative or international politics

     One course in American political thought or American political systems

Sociology (3 s.h.)

     One course at or above the 200 level

Religion (3 s.h.)

     One course in religions of the world

Elective (3 s.h.):  One course in Anthropology of Sociology

 

*NOTE:  Social Science courses completed with grades of C or higher prior to entering this program will be accepted.  The number of credits in each area will be correspondingly reduced; remaining courses will be determined after evaluation of student’s academic record.
