The Institute for the Humanities is an approved Classification One Provider for the New Jersey Department of Education.   Some of its programs may qualify for professional development hours. 

Due to the increased cost of printing and postage, and in order to be more environmentally conscious, the Institute for the Humanities will NOT SEND OUT PRINTED FLIERS for individual programs during the upcoming school year. 

Complete program descriptionstogether with date and time, cost, and registration formwill be posted on our website as this information becomes available.  

During the course of the year, we will send e-mail reminders with information about upcoming programs,  including  a registration form. 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CREDIT HOURS ARE OFFERED FOR ALL 2008-2009 PROGRAMS

     Mission     

     The Institute for the Humanities is a non-profit organization based within the College of the Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State University. Founded in 1979 the Institute's purpose is to promote interest in, and appreciation of the humanities. The Institute operates a very active outreach program for secondary school students and their teachers, and middle school teachers in New Jersey, offering conferences and workshops several times per semester, designed either for teachers (curriculum development) or teachers and students combined.
