Program Overview

The M.A. Educational Psychology program aims to increase the student's knowledge of the application of psychological theory to educational practice.

Program Admissions & Requirements

We are a rolling admissions program.  Apply online via the Office of Graduate Studies website when you are ready.

All applicants must meet the admission requirements for graduate study at Montclair State University.  Please refer to the Office of Graduate Studies for specific application requirements and instructions.  In addition, the applicant must have:

bullet 12 undergraduate credits in psychology including a course in statistics and a laboratory course in experimental psychology
bullet achieve acceptable scores on the general GRE
bullet and be approved by the departmental committee.

What can I do with the M.A. Educational Psychology degree?

 This degree is useful for those wishing to persue School Psychologist certification or moving forward into a doctoral program.  It is also beneficial to certified school teachers who are looking for both additional knowledge about behavior and moving up on the salary guide.

IV. Thesis (Elective)
 

V. Comprehensive Examination
Minimum: 34 semester hours with Thesis option or 36 semester hours without Thesis option. Students who elect the Thesis option will take one less course in each Elective category (II and III).
