"Our modern revelation may be a depressing revelation, but at least it is a demythologizing revelation. If the world is terrible, at least we know that our fathers were fools to think otherwise, and that everything they believed and cherished was a lie, or at best superstition" (Hilary Putnam, Human Face, p.136).
"If we believe in the creative effect of contact and collision, connection and exchange, then we require a medium, a way of writing which will live with the impact and conflict of communication between ideas" (Myerson, Rhetoric, Reason and Society, 1994:4).

Double-Speak A'La Chris! Part I
Terrorist Atrocities-This is used to describe any actions taken by terrorists with virtually no mention of their motives, and this results in a label of ruthless violence without purpose.
Just Cause-The resulting actions taken after “terrorist atrocities” by counter-terrorists, used to justify excessive force.
Effective Cost-Cutting Measures-A military term, also a contradiction, because while the cost is cut, the results are rarely effective, as evidenced by faulty equipment and poorly trained troops.
Global Village-A contradiction used to describe how we must all come together using the Internet to raise each generation of children… however the problem with this is the essential alienation that results from severing human contact by just sitting at the desk, staring at the screen, not getting out and socializing.
Plausible Denial- Concealing of facts from certain individuals in the hopes that one could create lies from the truth of ignorance.
MORE TO COME!
