Assignment No.4 A work in progress. From my daily mailbag in everyday life. ENJOY!
1) PRE-APPROVED credit applications that are supposedly approved yet they need one to fill out a information form and is "subject" to credit approval.
2) NO-LOAD mutual funds that don't charge a fee for processing a transaction.
3) INSURANCE PREMIUM a fee charged to me each month for the security of obtaining a "benefit".
4) INSURANCE BENEFIT; a non-monthly payment to one after the privilege of threatening the company with a lawsuit.
5) HEALTH INSURANCE PRE-EXISTING CONDITION EXCLUSION; paying a premium to get a benefit to secure one when one's health fails. However, if one's health is failing before one buys this security, this is the doublespeak to say that it is better to give than to receive.
6) POINTS: on a mortgage, this is another term for interest on top of the interest which is on top of the closing costs which is on top of the filing fee. Get the POINT?
7) SECURED CREDIT CARD: Give the bank a sum of money which they allow you to borrow for about 29%interest with an annual fee of about $50.00 and in six months they review your account which will cost you a review fee of about $60.00 and the service charge of about 10% then the finance charge of about 16%. Therefore, the bank feels very secure about billing you all of these fees which is another term for INTEREST!
8) PHONE BILL UNIVERSAL CONNECTIVITY CHARGE, ACCESS FEE, LINE FEE; the taxman cometh (and my phone number is unpublished)!
9) CABLE FRANCHSIE FEE; another tax, only this one comes with video!
10) LAWYER; another term for LIAR. This version comes with billable hours and adds a surcharge by the word.
