To All: What do Firth and Wagner mean by "a skewed perspective on discourse and communication" on the part of dominant interactionist SLA researchers? What are we to understand by "an increased 'emic' sensitivity towards fundamental concepts, and the broadening of the traditional SLA data base?" Which theoretical orientation is currently favored in SLA research? Why? Explain and illustrate your answers. Please feel free to comment on your classmates' postings. I welcome electronic interaction.
