Before mentioning that we need 3 major changes to progress in SLA theories, the authors mention that researchers have accumulated large quantities of "heterogeneous research." To advance, what we need to do is expand on what we already have in our data base, not come up with more of the same findings and dwelling on them. According to the authors, we will broaden the traditional SLA data base by critically assessing "the presupposition underpinning the research." Does this make sense to you?
