Hi Assumpta. This is what I think these parents must do with their little kid. Personally, I do agree with the father. Why? Because their son it is only a child, and according to cognitivists a child is able to acquire languages without any problem. My only concern here is the term "Teaching" I don't think a child should be taught a language in a very formal way. What the mother has to do is just talk to him and the will assimilate both languages English and Spanish. The sooner the better. Remember those theories about the so-called "sensitive period." I hope this helps.
