Thank you for your feedback. It's very interesting to see how culture comes into play in terms of classroom expectations and learning style preferences. I believe that you and Ken prefer a linear style; that is, outlining points A, B, C, and developing them thoroughly. I love to digress and bring in commonalities from various theoretical perspectives into play. As you mentioned in your self-reflection, you got the article's main idea but missed the details. Getting the main idea is the most important thing in an introductory course. You can explore the details in more advanced courses (e.g., SLA Seminar: Connectionist Theories). As to PowerPoint, you are not supposed to write down anything. You are supposed to listen to the presentation. Had you reminded me, I would have printed the outline for you. I do enjoy PowerPoint because it helps me organize my thoughts. Remember, it's a teacher-centered tool. We need to get away from lecture style classrooms. I realize that most of you are used to this, but collaborative work enriches us all and approximates real-life situations. I would like some additional feedback from all of you. Which articles did you enjoy reading the most? What should I omit? Most of these articles reflect the most recent work in the field of SLA. What do I need to add to improve the collection of readings? Thank you.
