Dear Carla, so sorry for not commenting on your most thoughtful comments earlier. I have been extremely busy. I thought that your example of learning by scaffolding how to uncompress a file was great! That's the way I learn. Reading a book is not enough for me. I need to discuss theoretical concepts with others. This is my way of trying to figure out whether or not my interpretation matches that of another colleague. I envy those who can figure things out by themselves just from reading manuals or books. I have always enjoyed group work. It might have something to do with the way we are socialized.
