TESOL Quarterly - 1. Study Abroad - Race - This is a study of diverse background students studying abroad in which discussion of race and gender was limited. The article suggests the importance of incorporating the student's socio-cultural difference, in the host culture as part of the formal curriculum. Vocabulary Learning - This is a study of student's approach to vocabulary learning. There were many different ways student's learned vocabulary - amount of time spent, type of vocabulary, use of dictionaries, etc. Results suggest lack of self reported effort is linked to poor performance and time and learning independence are closely related to success in vocabulary learning. 3. Reading Anxiety - This article discusses the possitibility of reading anxiety to some students in a foreign alnguage. There are different levels of anxiety produced by difficulty in reading. THE MODERN LANGUAGE JOURNAL - 1 - Intonation - This article reviews current intonational research and also the lack of innovation in intontion materials. it ends by sharing the four principles for intonation teaching materials. 5. Nonnative-Eng. pro. in TESOL = This author contrasts native speakers with Nonnative speaker in teaching TESOL. Through competence, cultural, social identities, language environment, etc. the author was inconclusive in his study. ESL students in Grade 1 - Notions of community of practice and legitimate peripheral participation (LPP) - learning increased as pariticipation in community also increased.
