I am a second year freshman at MSU. My major is Computer Science. I have registered for this course because it looked like it was the most interesting course in the general requirement section it fell under. Being a male, I thought it would be enlightening to take a course about Women's Worlds because i would never be able to experience it first hand. I hope to gain a better understanding and better knowledge on the different ways of life of women around the world. This includes their roles in society and their rights (or lack of rights) in different cultures, religions and countries. I would like to know how women's rights are being fought for in different countries as well. The media's influence on women interests me most though. It is obvious that young women see the image portrayed of women in the media (television, magazines) and think that they must be like the skinny and beautiful (by society's standards) models and actresses they see. I would like to look deeper into the subject, perhaps for my research project.
