The reason why I am taking this course is because I am thinking about becoming a psychology major and the course is listed under psychology. As of this moment I am undeclared, but I took psychology 101 my first semester and I really enjoyed the class. Although Women's World is not a required course for the psycology major, I thought that in the long run, when I become a psychologist, the things that I learn will help me understand the problems that we as women, face in the world today. Usually when I think about feminists I think of a bunch of man hating women. I did not think that they had just cause to be so angry. I look at the progress that the women in the developed countries (Japan, United States, Western Europe etc...) have made, without paying much attention to the horrors that women, especially in the developing countries, have been put through. This class, although I have only been in the class for a few weeks now, has taught me to keep an open mind, and has made me realize that women are exposed to terrible circumstances, such as the acid attacks. For a research subject I think I would be most interested in learning about female infanticide throughout the world. I hope to become better informed about the undermining of women in the world.
