I am a Broadcasting Major in my final semester here. I am taking this class to fill a requirement. I took a class very similar to this while at Rutgers. I understand that studying women's roles in other countries is important to this course and this field of study, but I would suggest that acts like throwing acid into girls faces is not an example of American culture. We are not a perfectly equal society but I think that we are above the rest. No, there hasn't been a female president but compare equality now with the past. Are more women in the work force now than 50 years ago? 10 years ago? What about females enrolled in college? I would argue that equality in our society is progressing. I would say that this class is a testament of that.
As far as research topics go, I am interested in Women's roles in the media since it is related to my major. Also, women in sports because it will correspond with a television project I will be working on at the end of the semester.
