My reason for taking this course is to broaden my knowledge of feminist philosophy. As an English major the material I read deals quite often with white male patriarchy as the hegemonic norm. In order to gain a greater understanding of outside perspectives other social suprastructures must be explored other than the one we exist in. This will ensure greater thought about my own ideology as well as the need to develop and be able to foster different approaches in establishing gender roles within social stratas. I could take these ideas to the texts I am engaging inferences in.
