I have to agree with you that the labels of feminine and masculine restrict women from moving up in today's society. A couple years ago, in high school, we were having a heated discussion in class about women in the military. My best friend is in the army and she loves it. She is a lot stronger and more able bodied than a number of the men that she trains with. So I was sticking to my opinion that women can do anything men can. Some boy jumped down my throat and I jumped right back down his. This went on for about one minute until the teacher stopped us. He told me after class that I am entitled to have my opinion but I am a women and I shouldn't act so aggressive! Since I am a women he expected me to be submissive and eventually agree with the boy that I was arguing with. I know what it is like to be looked down upon for expressing my "male" characteristics. Until we do away with these stereotypes women are going to continually have problems moving up in this world, especially in positions where it is a requirement to be aggressive.
