ITALIAN MAJOR

The Department of Spanish and Italian offers courses in Italian language on the elementary and intermediate level (service courses), an Italian Major program, an Italian Minor program and a Teacher Certification program. The major in Italian is designed to help students achieve linguistic fluency, an appreciation of literature and comprehensive knowledge of cultural history. Efforts are made to familiarize students with the latest trends of contemporary thought, literature, literary criticism and linguistics.

It is highly recommended that majors spend a year, a semester or a summer in Italy. This study should preferably be planned for the junior year. After a successful completion of the program, credits will be granted by evaluation. It is highly recommended that majors spend a year, a semester or a summer in Italy.
